Commercial Pool Resurfacing in Las Vegas With ecoFINISH
Polynesian Pools handles commercial pool resurfacing in Las Vegas and across the valley with ecoFINISH®, a flame-sprayed polymer coating that holds up to hard water and desert sun. We fix or replaster any damaged surface first, then coat it, and the pool can be refilled within 24 hours of the final coat.
Hotels, HOAs, apartment communities and fun centers all fight the same thing here: a rough, scaled, faded surface that keeps swimmers out and keeps maintenance crews busy. Our owner, Cleveland Williams, built pools in Las Vegas for 23 years before he started Polynesian Pools, so we know what this valley does to a pool. Call 435-817-7777 for a free quote.

Why Las Vegas Is Hard on Commercial Pools
In commercial pool resurfacing, Las Vegas water is the first thing we plan for. The Southern Nevada Water Authority rates valley water at 280 parts per million, or 16 grains per gallon, and calls it “very hard” (SNWA water facts).
Then the desert pulls water out of the pool. SNWA also reports that an average in-ground pool loses 48.6 gallons of water per square foot each year to evaporation. Every top-off adds more calcium, and the minerals stay behind as scale on the surface and tile.
A commercial pool gets more swimmers, more chemicals and a longer season than a backyard pool. Porous plaster takes that wear badly. It etches, stains and turns rough, and the sun fades whatever color is left.
How Our ecoFINISH Commercial Pool Resurfacing Works
Start With a Sound Surface
ecoFINISH coats a surface. It can’t replace one. If the old plaster is cracked, hollow or flaking, we repair it or replaster first, because a coating over a failing surface fails right along with it. Then we prep the surface so the coating bonds.
Flame-Spray the Coating

Our crew flame-sprays ecoFINISH onto the prepared shell. It cures into a smooth, non-porous, pH-neutral finish that resists scale, stains and fading. The manufacturer says its finishes can’t be damaged by acid washing and don’t need the two-week “Hot Start” that plaster does (ecoFINISH Commercial Coatings). We use aquaBRIGHT on concrete and plaster pools and polyFIBRO® on fiberglass.
Slip Resistance Where Swimmers Step

Steps, benches, beach entries and wading areas can get a slip-resistant application. ecoFINISH can also go above the waterline and on water slides, which matters at resorts and fun centers.
Refill and Reopen
We can start filling the pool within 24 hours after the final coat. The full schedule depends on the pool’s size and how much repair or replastering it needs, so we’ll lay that out with your quote.
Las Vegas Commercial Pool Resurfacing and SNHD Approval
Public pools in Clark County fall under the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD). SNHD lists “changing interior color or adding a design to the bottom of an aquatic venue” and “refinishing a deck with a different surface” among the changes that need a remodel submission (SNHD remodel rules). For your project, that means:
- The application goes in before any work starts, and work can’t begin until SNHD grants written approval.
- It has to come from a Nevada-registered engineer or architect, or a contractor with a Nevada A license and the A-10 subclassification.
- Paying the fee doesn’t mean the plans are approved.
Build the review into your schedule, especially if you want the pool open by summer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need SNHD approval to resurface a commercial pool in Las Vegas?
Check before you schedule. SNHD requires a remodel submission for changes like a new interior color, a design on the pool bottom or refinishing the deck with a different surface. Work can’t start until SNHD gives written approval, so confirm your scope with them early.
Can we change the pool’s color when we resurface?
Yes. ecoFINISH comes in a wide range of colors, which you can browse on our Choose a Color page. On a public pool in Southern Nevada, though, a new interior color counts as a remodel, so it needs SNHD approval first.
How soon can the pool reopen?
We can start refilling within 24 hours after the final coat. When you can reopen also depends on any repairs, how long the refill takes, balancing the water and the approval steps your project needs.
Does hard water ruin ecoFINISH the way it ruins plaster?
Hard water can still leave scale if the water chemistry slips. ecoFINISH is non-porous, so scale doesn’t sink into the surface the way it does with plaster. The manufacturer also says acid washing can’t damage the finish, so cleanup is easier.
Do you work in Henderson and the rest of the valley?
Yes. We’re based in St. George, and we travel to commercial pools in Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Mesquite. Tell us where the pool is when you request a quote, and we’ll set up a time to look at it.
